St. Mary's – a parish through 100 years

In 1898, Bishop Von  Euch invited the two  Kamillian Fathers, Father Vido and Father  Tembories, to work in Denmark.

They were looking for a suitable place to start a parish. It was found in Aalborg. Here they settled.

On 19. In April, Sct. Mariæ parish was  established in a villa on Kastetvej.

In 1926, the new church was completed and  St. Mary's Church was consecrated on December 19 of the same year.

In 1966, on December 16, the Church of the Holy Spirit in Frederikshavn was consecrated by Bishop Hans L. Martensen.

In 1971, the  congregation in Thisted took over a church from the Catholic-Apostolic Congregation for the symbolic amount of 1 kroner and on March 28, the same year, it was consecrated in honor of St. Thøger by Bishop Hans L. Martensen.

In 1984, Father Strebin died, he became the last  Kamillian  in Denmark.

The Oblate Fathers,  Oblati  Mariæ  Immaculatæ (OMI), came to Sct. Mariæ Parish, and Father Leo Kertz becomes parish priest.

In 1990, a new Catholic church center was built in Hjørring, which was consecrated to St. Mary, the Queen of Martyrs.

In 1999, on March 19, the renovated and rebuilt Kamillianerklinik was inaugurated as a self-governing hospice and is now called KamillianerGaarden.

On 1 and 2 May 1998, the congregation at  Sct. Mariæ Parish celebrated its 100th anniversary.

On September 3, 1999, Sct. Mariæ School celebrated  its 100th anniversary.
